This is where the old classics go. If it has been posted more than once in New Releases, chances are it should go here.

Here's a link to the lj GAFF of a list of Golden Oldies that a gaffer complied before it went down. Just for anyone looking to post anything...thought it might be helpful.

I would also like to suggest the following:

Upon posting a fic to Golden Oldies, give a short introduction or run-down. Try to make it a bit snarky or review-y, as it won't be reviewed or snarked anywhere else on this board.

We will get new people who haven't read the fics in question- pointing them to Golden Oldies won't to a lot of good if there is no information exceeding link-dump to be found here. Also, the old members haven't necessarily read every single one of these, either (I know I haven't).

Tell us what makes it Golden-Oldie-worthy, give us some best-of quotes, something. Don't let it become pages upon pages of "I made it through!!" "OH EURGH I COULDN'T" "Well I am most unsquickable, hardass mofo that I am".
That's *gasp* boring.

Question: I have an old fic that I snarked on the orange boards.
It has since been taken down by the author.
Would it still qualify?

I think so, as long as you or someone else has a copy that we can re-snark.

If it was published in 2006, would that make it a golden oldie?

See the second sentence in the admin post - "Oldie" status is not contingent on when it was first published, but entirely on whether it has shown up in "New Releases" in one of the previous incarnations of the board or is recognized by many to be a badfic of legendary status. Even if you find a fic that was originally published in a 'zine in the '70s, unless it is already notorious for being terrible OR has been ripped into before, it does not belong into "Golden Oldies."
