Is the author German? 'Cause we call a woman nymphoman or a Nymphomanin. |

I've never put myself in a fanfic as a main character, and certainly not one that the hero falls in love with (I didn't even do that when I was younger). I've occasionally inserted myself as an OC that's maybe in one or two scenes and sometimes has a couple of lines of dialogue, but that's about as far as I go.
If I'm writing fanfic, I'm assuming the readers want to read about the characters in the show I'm writing about, not me. |

| Even when I'm writing just for me or making up fic in my head I don't enjoy self-insert. I mean, I spend time with myself every day. I'm not gonna find myself interesting in a story because I already know everything about me. Why would I want to read about myself when I can actually hang out with me the rest of the time? |

One would think that's a natural assumption ... but apparently fanbrat logic is not like our logic. They seem to think that what people really want to read about is self-insert Mary Sues, and cardboard cutouts of the canon characters standing around admiring them.
Leading me to wonder ... who reads these things?
Maybe I need to do another poll on FFN .... |

| I put myself into one fic with one scene. I was the school librarian who told the canon student that she only needed to bring her books to school if the teachers told her to. |

| I sure as hell don't - characters I write may have aspects of my personality, but I couldn't point to any one and say that that's my avatar.
Then again, I tend to write mostly OC's off doing their own thing with "walk-ons" by the established canons. _________________ My LJ

They're most likely read by other fanbrats, who write the exact same stuff. They're their own little mutual admiration society. :headshot: |

The closest I've ever come to a true self-insert was a caricature of myself for humour purposes, who was unceremoniously killed off without making any actual impact. Usually, I write either original stuff or the "original characters in the 'verse going about their own business" type of thing, unless I'm very confident in my ability to write a certain canon character well. That's pretty much why I avoid fanfiction in general, I know I wouldn't be able to do the source material justice. |

| Pen never touched paper, but back when I was a stupid teen, I'd fantasize myself into my favorite books. Generally, I mentally took the role of the psychic Sue who would try to make things work out well for the characters, although I was never sure how to make that happen, because interfering could have meant the complete destruction of the timeline as I knew it. There were very few characters that I'd try to pair myself with in my imagination, and they were invariably unattached to anyone canonically. And I knew that it was stupid, which is why it stayed in my little brain. |

| I knew there was a reason I get my Supernatural fic from supernaturalville.net. Much safer that way. I did see one on lj the other day where Dean was John and Sam's sex slave. And the RPS in that fandom is just . Okay, Sam and Dean are hot guys, but unless you're a hunter, a relationship with either one is not going to work. Sam's girlfriends tend to end up dead and Dean's longest relationship was just a few weeks and that did not end well. The man is king of the one night stand. |

| This summary for a Twilight fic is only moderatly godawful: | Quote: | Bella Is The School Nerd, Edward is The Football captaing and all around good guy. When Bella's sisters Trow a Party Things will go from bad to worse for Bella,One-Shot. Better summuray inside. |
But the "summuray" inside seems to have had a bad accident with a Cuisinart:
| Quote: | Bella and Edward are is just a normal shy girl in Forks is the Quaterback,Class president and all around good secretly loves Edward but, He has Tanya, The amazing head cheerleader. Bella's Sisters thow an End-of-the-year party and things turn from bad to worst for Bella. One-shot, Inspired by You Belong with me By Taylor Swift. |
Yes, the summary accurately presents the story. It's full of lines like this one:
| Quote: | | I'm suppose to be partying I'm not suppose to be in my room doing kind of a loser am I seriously... Uhh My life sucks. |
I'm trying to endure enough of it to snark it over in New Releases. It's also got a sentence perfect for the "words mean something" thread:
| Quote: | | Which there not their my Half- Sisters. |
Two random guesses on how to spell "they're" and she got it wrong both times!
The stupid, it burns. |

I may have to check it out, ff.net is rubbish for good Supernatural fic. And why is it always Dean that's the sex slave? Always.
(I actually really like Supernatural RPS, because I'm shameful like that. But I also like my Supernatural RPS Jensen/Misha flavoured and you try telling that to a Jensen/Jared shipper, they would eat my face in rage. And there's hardly any of it out there, either. I cannot quite bring myself to write my own yet.)

Why write a high school AU for a fandom that's already partially set in high school? |

| What I can't get over is that not only did the author see fit to post that Cuisinart-challenged story, but several people claim to have read it and liked it. Since fanbrats' reading ability usually seems to be questionable at best ... how??? |

Stephen King thought his fans would LOVE reading about him in The Dark Tower. He even used the car accident that almost killed him as a plot device (if author is killed story will stop and all the worlds will be ruled and destroyed by the Crimson King!!! )
I'm still not sure if he's a genius or a loathsome hack.
Never self-inserted myself, but I must've put my viewpoints in OC's mouth's. But I think that's unavoidable. After all, that's what writing is for, isn't it? Seeing a character, or a situation, or that whole world in a particular way and using that character or situation to comment on it. Although it's even more fun to imagine how a character would see a situation, i.e. in a way totally different from your own, and then go with THEIR pov and write that convincingly.
Damn it, I need another fandom high! |

Also because I VERY BELATEDLY just realised that Aiba’s the pervert and I’ve been mistakenly casting him as the innocent OMG-SCRATCH-MY-EYES-OUT member. This fails in so many different ways, I don't even know where to start.
Do you even know what a disclaimer is for? Or a summary, for that matter?
Not to mention the author's note. If you haven't seen enough of Arashi to know their basic personalities, why are you even writing fanfic about them? |

The Adventures of Nymphoman...cumming soon to a site near you. |
I suppose Nymphoman has a doomcock. Reminds me of something similar. It's a manga that features a super heroine that's a porn star by trade. In one issue, she's having to pummel the bad guys while telling them that even though she's a porn star, she is not obligated to have sex with everyone. |
