I wanna say that I have heard of controversies started in fandoms about someone claiming some pro/official writer took their fanfic idea or something and starting a huge stink about it. Or how often (if at all) has anyone actually gotten a cease and desist letter from some company due to fan work? Or more specifically, fanfic? in b4 House of Cosbys |

| I think it's the laziness of plagiarism that pisses me off.
"Wow, I'm getting credit for the ability to post somebody else's story without their knowledge! And sweet shit I'm not even getting any money for it! Wow, I'm a writer!"
It's like a small boy being proud of pissing himself. He's not getting paid, it's not going to benefit him, and it's not his effort, but he's still proud of the praise of somebody else's work.
I once had something plagiarised. And I looked on the guy's account, and it was FULL of plagiarised stuff - well, the stories were so different in style that they couldn't possibly be the same person. So I searched a few of the stories and hey, turned out the guy really did plagiarise all his stories. |

But it IS up on the Pit - wait. Is the piss on the Pit? I thought the fanfiction was the piss. Is "Pit" your name for the toilet? This explanation makes even less sense than the original metaphor. |

Look at it this way - it's your fanfiction. Somebody has stolen it. Except your fanfiction is a load of unmitigated CRAP. (Not you, you... you know what I mean)
In any case, the thief didn't write it. Their only contribution to the story was changing its location.
Which is why I don't get plagiarists. Not only is most of what they steal crap, but they didn't even write it. So any praise they get isn't praise for them, so why do they feel so great? Oh, perhaps they feel good because they haven't been caught yet and they confuse that with pride for work. |
