No, that actually seems somewhat true. Germany (at least, I think this is kinda common in western Europe) is trying to come up with schemes to make people have enough babies, because we aren't.
Of course, contraception is not the only factor in this (culture and education being equally important), but it is one. |

I just read a German article where the writer was positively *giddy* that there are now enough kita ("child daycare") places to cover 23% of demand, up from 14% (while also stating that, in the area observed, fewer children had been born, which indicates to me that there aren't more kita spots, just fewer childen). Considering that nowadays, more often than not, two people in a family with child have to work in order to be able to pay the bills, that's a huge part of the problem right there.
