Today, I saw no less than 3 Pokemon fanfiction with these things. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I mean Theme Songs (not as bad as the others, admittedly), the part where Ash says the episode title (complete with background description), Credits, Who's That Pokemon?, commercials, etc.

Is all of this really necessary?

No seriously, how do you even do that in written form? Do you mean to say they actually had the theme song lyrics written out before the text of the story?

Are you talking about script things a little like MST3K host sections?

I... What? I've never seen this before.

I'm pretty sure script-format is a no-no over there anyway, innit?

Somehow, this reminds me of South Park....

...which should be a good thing, but in this case, not so much.

There are times and places and ways to break the Fourth Wall. This is not it.

The sad thing is, I've seen this for more than just Pokemon.

I've seen something similar in a bad Dragon Ball Z fic... not a direct transcript, like in that case, but a style of writing that makes it clear the author is trying to reproduce the way DBZ episodes end in the chapter endings.

It doesn't help that the fic is also written with most of the focus on the yelling and dialogue, and the actual meat (action scenes) are left with the bare minimum.
