| Conversion fics. We've all seen 'em. Those pieces of badfic where the author tries their hardest to bring readers to the fanbrat's religion o'choice by converting the characters to the religion. Some are hilarious, some are offensive, and almost all put the fanbrat's cluelessness on display.
Some are more famous than others (like the Sailor Moon fic in which she gets down on her knees and thanks God for sending her the perfect prom dress). Then there's others, not so famous, but equally WTF.
For example:
Heart of the Sea: The Diary of Rose Dawson in which Rose meets and becomes a part of the very Catholic Dawson family. Now, how many of you who saw Titanic came away concluding that Jack Dawson was a good Catholic? Anyone? Anyone?
Didn't think so. |

| I present to you a Teen Titan's fic called Tears of Joy, where Raven, the half demon heroine, speaks to God and he heals her of her demon curse so she can feel emotion. If that isn't awful enough, after she is 'healed', her clothes are turned white, her eyes turn blue, and her hair turns blonde. |

A little piece called "Harry turns to the Lord" where a Gary Stu tells Harry the evils of witchcraft and his school... It offends Christians by the way if you read the comments section.

| Not necessarily conversion fics, but didn't someone post a link to a Deviantart website for Christian fans of some well-known anime series? The kicker being that you could only draw art or write fanfic in which the characters were presented as being Christians (by which I mean "Jesus is my savior and I've given my heart to Him' Christians).
To add insult to injury, the anime in question was set during a period in Japan before they'd come in contact with Western culture. So exactly how they were supposed to become Christians, since no one had yet sent any missionaries there, escaped me.
Tell me I'm not imagining this? |

| Eh, to be fair, the Japanese have had contact with Europeans (primarily the Portuguese and the Dutch, whose languages provide some of the oldest loan words in Japanese) since 1542 (see this for reference), and I doubt Naruto is set much earlier than that.
HOWEVER, from 1603 on, when the Tokugawa/Edo period began, Japan was closed to Westerners and Christianity ruthlessly persecuted according to Shogun orders. So, er, if Naruto was real and lived somewhere between that year and 1868, he'd have been killed. |

Why? For the love of Optimus Prime, WHY?!

Conversion fics have no necessary purpose. The day Fanfiction is recognized for converting people, will be the day right before the zombie apocalypse. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Naruto isn't in Japan, or, in fact, our world at all.
Which, incidentally, makes Christianity even less likely. |

Beats me, I've never watched Naruto... but since Badger assumed Japan and my brain supplied "ninja" when parsing for Naruto... *shrugs*
But yeah, if set in a fantasy world with little relation to our own (which "Naruto" sounds like, since it seems to display the same hodge-podge of feudalism and modern technology "Saiyuki" does), it's even more idiotic to assume the religions of this world exist, unless they are explicitly mentioned ("Saiyuki" does this - but while I haven't seen "Naruto", I'll wager a wild guess that it doesn't). |

Totally verifying that Naruto's world is separate from our own. Of course it's that very factor which makes Christian!Naruto completely impossible, as Christian churches are non-existent in that world.
I shiver at the thought of Darth Vader atoning for his sins by honoring Christ, only to turn around and Force-choke the guy that converted him. Star Wars has thousands, if not millions, of different races with their own cultures and not one of them a Christian. |

| How can we forget the infamous How Can I Go On? in which Serena is dumped by her boyfriend, tries to kill herself in a shallow pond and finds God? XD Classic Sailormoon badfic. Especially the prom dress scene. |

| Rather like crappy fanart, it seems this sort of thing is a lot more common in anime, gaming and comic fandoms. I honestly don't recall having ever read a Dr. Who, Torchwood, Due South or Professionals story where the author tried to convert anyone to Christianity. I don't know if it's because of the amount of slash in said fandoms, the fact that the writers tend to be somewhat older than your average fantwit, or what.
For a truly dedicated Christian writer, I'd think trying to figure out some way to convert Captain Jack Harkness (who's admittedly omnisexual and doesn't give a damn if you approve or not) would prove an irresistable challenge. Or maybe it's the whole 'not being able to die' thing that puts them off (particularly his description of what being dead is like)
Still, you'd think someone would at least have given a try at rescuing poor Ianto from Jack's clutches. Because he obviously caught being bisexual from Jack.
Has anyone seen this in more recent TV shows and movies? I don't watch a lot of TV, and the last movie I saw in the theater was 'Inception,' so I'd be interested in knowing if the 'Converting Non-christian characters to Christianity' trend occurs in these mediums more often than I know. |

| Hmmm...I remember a Pokémon fic called "Team Revelation" which featured a good guy team that ripped off Team Rocket, but doing good deeds in the name of God instead of trying to steal people's Pokémon. They even FOUGHT Team Rocket, and BOY were they ticked! Mind you...I saw no sign of people being converted to Christianity in that fic, but that's all I can think of right now.
One question does come to mind though. I wonder if anyone's done conversionfic in the Narnia reality? Consiering the Christian undertones in THAT series... |

I haven't looked at much fanfic from really recent movies, but I did just now come across this Star Wars/Bible crossover. It's better written than some, but the whole idea made me go |

You know, I'd forgotten that when the original Star Wars trilogy first came out, it spawned an entire cottage industry in the Christian book sector for people writing rants about how it was an attempt to get people to worship some nebulous 'Force' that was supposed to represent God but was actually the Devil (because Vader was a Jedi too).
Of course, the fact that George Lucas couldn't have turned Luke into any more of a messianic figure if he'd had him crucified, buried, and rise on the third day didn't help matters any.
But that-that's just silly. |

I don't, that would be fucking awesome. I DEMAND THAT SOMEONE WRITE SUCH A FIC. |
