Exactly what it says on the tin: what was your first encounter with really gut-wrenchingly awful (as opposed to merely mediocre) fanfiction of any stripe?

Mine was actually arguably a while before I really discovered the Internet; someone printed it out and brought to school. It was about the Teletubbies having sex with each other, culminating in a four-um...thing orgy. And thus began an illustrious career in projectile vomiting.

On the GAFF mainpage, one of the X-Files Fanfics had Scully do....something. I've blocked it out so effectively I can't remember. But it was horrible.

I waded through a lot of mediocre shit when I was a wee fantard (i.e: fourteen and unable to spell English properly and thought chapters over a thousand words were too long to bother with), but my first truly horrible fic was...

legolas by laura, closely followed by Celebrian, back during my first days of GAFF. Yeah. It's like petting a slightly retarded kitten, and then turning around to find a rabid sabertooth next to you, at least if you're new to truly horrible badfics.

I can't remember the title or where I found it, but there was some horrible FFVIII Seifer/Zell thing that involved explicit zombie!Seifer rape and some inexplicable Selphie torture/impalement. I almost wish I could find it again, just so I could snark it.

When you're barely eleven, a story described as a loving encounter between Sailor Moon and her cat Luna doesn't seem like something you shouldn't be clicking on. :unskilled78:

Sheltered twelve-year-old that I was, Tuxedo Mask and Pegasus simultaneously raping Mini-Moon made me stop reading fanfic for a bit.

Yeah, Sailor Moon is such a terrible starter fandom for us 90's kids. We were so young, so innocent, and so unaware of just how much horrible porn is out there for SM.

It might have been the troll-fic where Ash gets inflected by a lust virus and his penis gets as big as his arm. Except that in spite of it probably being the grossest thing I had ever read at the time I thought it was fucking hysterical.

IDK, maybe the first fic to actually squick me was that dumb-shit Chrono Trigger snuff one. Or else that one where Double D becomes a vampire and strangles preggers!Nazz.

I can't recall exactly what it was, but in the very first truly wretched thing I ever read, there were zombies banging some the protagonist's wife and then she drank their maggot infested semen.

I read Agony in Pink in its entirety when I was fourteen.

My first encounter with people's crazy misconceptions about sex and rape was actually offline. I was maybe in fourth grade or so when a friend not only introduced me to the concept of rape, but also explained that rapists take you home with them, dim the lights, and then put glue on their penis and essentially glue themselves into you. For a year or so.
These days that makes me laugh, but back then I was so disturbed that I never even mentioned it to my parents.


The first disturbing fic I read (excerpts of)... I think it's a toss-up between that X-files where someone starts milking several redheads like cows and then does some unspeakable things to their breasts, and the RPF about Avril Lavigne and... Elisha Cuthbert? where he has some black guy raping Avril with his dick so enormous that it nearly kills her, and stuff.

Was it Avril Lavigne and Amanda Bynes? That sounds familiar.

At the age of fourteen, it was... something... on the red and black GAFF Voyboards. I forget what it was, but I couldn't look away. And that's how i got here.

My first badfic experience was actually in real life. I was in the seventh grade, and I'm kind of known for trying to be friendly with people. So I meet this kid who gets picked on all the time. I stand up for him, sit with him at lunch, and be his friend. Then one day, he asked me if I wanted to read his story- turns out he wrote Sonic fanfiction. It wasn't bad, but then I got to a scene near the end... where Cream gets raped. He was 13 years old. I was too.

It's more disturbing if it's in real life like that. Nothing has ever compared to the sheer terror that someone in real life, at the age of thirteen, wrote and fapped to that. Thirteen. Sonic fapfiction. Middle school. Doesn't compute.

I came across GA fanfic late in life, given that I didn't get online till I was almost 40. Most of the fanfic I'd encountered in zines was mediocre to okay, but none of it was ever mind-numbingly, eye-searingly bad.

Then I got into Sentinel fandom and discovered this author named Bast who wrote long, horrifically explicit BDSM epics in which Jim waspart Panther and Blair was a spoil of war that was repeatedly raped and abused. But it was okay, because they were meant to be together, and Blair realized that when Jim raped and mauled him half-to-death, it was just a sign of how much he loved him.

Believe it or not, it was the first time I'd encountered the whole rape/abuse=twu wub thing, and it squicked me so badly, I actually quit reading fanfic of any kind for close to a year.

When I finally abandoned The Sentinel for greener pastures (Due South), I was horrified to discover that Bast had preceded me. Except that the whole half-animal BDSM bonded thing was apparently something that went along with The Sentinel fandom. Her DS fanfics were so ordinary, they bordered on boring.

Then I stumbled across GAFF, discovered things like Celebrian and Agony in Pink, and realized Bast wasn't nearly as batshit as I'd thought she was.

I saw my first really squicky badfic when I was in college. It was a Wonder Woman fic in which the villain shrinks her, then drops her in a pool of semen left by men jacking off at a strip club. She drinks the semen in order not to drown.

This was back on the old Dejanews board.

I ran across a lot of mediocre, poorly-spelled, stupid fics, but I never came across something that really squicked me until I saw Soemele's crap.

The one that I remember is not a squickfest, but instead was either a poorly done crackfic or the result of a writer needing his medication adjusted (either he was taking too much or not enough of something)

You wouldn't even know it was supposed to be a Ghostbusters story except for the mention of PKE Meters and Proton Packs...about halfway through it.

The first badfic I ever read was a Cori Falls fanfic. Hell, it was the first fanfic I ever read, period. It's a wonder I even like fanfiction nowadays with that first impression.

When I was ten or eleven, I stumbled upon a Yu-Gi-Oh fic where Yugi, Ryou, and Malik were angels and their dark sides were demons with bat wings and scorpion tails. At one point Bakura raped Ryou with his tail and, I quote, "he stung him... on the inside." I think Ryou died after that, and then Yugi and Yami had sex. The author declined to include the sex scene, inserting an author's note explaining that it could be found on Mediaminer because it violated FF.net's ToS.

Her stories were surprisingly well written in terms of style and grammar. Too bad about the gratuitous rape and necrophilia. She wrote a very grim and serious fic about Kaiba's recovery from being raped by Pegasus. It had some beautiful and insightful parts in it that I remember to this day, and its treatment of sexual assault was pretty mature for a fanfic. It would have been excellent had it been an original fiction, but as a fanfic for a kid's show it failed hard. She further ruined it by approving somebody else to write a completely ludicrous sequel in which Duo Maxwell hooks Kaiba up with Jonouchi, and Kaiba is instantly cured of his deep sexual traumas because Duo makes him wear a leather thong.
